12. Can authors use Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools when preparing manuscripts?

14. Do authors need to disclose the use of Generative AI?
Yes. Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools when AI has contributed to manuscript preparation, analysis, figures, images, or other parts of the research output.
The disclosure should include:
- The name of the AI tool used.
- The purpose for which it was used.
- The sections or materials affected.
- Confirmation that the authors reviewed and verified all AI-assisted content.
15. Can AI tools be used to generate research results or scientific data?
No. Authors must not use generative AI tools to fabricate, manipulate, or create false research data, results, references, images, or scientific findings. All research results must originate from valid scientific methods and appropriate analysis.
16. Can reviewers use Generative AI tools during peer review?
Reviewers must protect manuscript confidentiality. They should not upload submitted manuscripts, unpublished data, or confidential reviewer comments into publicly available AI systems. Any use of AI-assisted tools must not compromise confidentiality or independent evaluation.
17. Does JESChE reject manuscripts that use Generative AI?
No. The use of generative AI tools alone is not a reason for rejection. However, undisclosed use, inaccurate AI-generated content, plagiarism, fabricated information, or misuse of AI tools may result in rejection or further investigation.
