Digital Archiving Policy

The Journal of the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineering (JESChE) recognizes the importance of preserving scholarly publications to ensure long-term accessibility, reliability, and availability of scientific knowledge.

The journal is committed to maintaining a permanent digital record of all published articles through reliable preservation and archiving systems.

1. Purpose of Digital Archiving

Digital archiving ensures that published articles remain accessible to researchers, students, institutions, and the public even in the event of technological changes, website migration, or unexpected disruptions.

2. Preservation Services

JESChE supports digital preservation through appropriate institutional and scholarly archiving services. The journal may participate in recognized preservation programs, including:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): Long-term preservation service for journals using Open Journal Systems.
  • LOCKSS: A distributed digital preservation system that allows libraries to preserve journal content.
  • CLOCKSS: A community-based preservation system for long-term scholarly access.
  • Institutional repositories: University or research organization repositories.

3. Preservation of Published Content

The journal aims to preserve:

  • Published articles.
  • Article metadata.
  • Author information.
  • Abstracts and keywords.
  • Supplementary materials where applicable.
  • Digital object identifiers (DOIs) and citation information.

4. Article Availability

Published articles remain permanently available through the journal website and approved preservation services. The journal makes reasonable efforts to maintain stable URLs and accurate metadata.

5. Corrections and Retractions

Corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices are preserved as part of the scholarly record. The journal does not remove published articles except in exceptional circumstances required by legal or ethical considerations.

6. Author Repository Rights

Authors are encouraged to preserve and share their published research through appropriate institutional or subject repositories according to the journal's copyright and licensing policies.

7. Policy Review

This Digital Archiving Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with international scholarly publishing and digital preservation standards.
