Copyright transfer

The Journal of the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineering (JESChE) is committed to protecting authors' rights while ensuring the proper dissemination, archiving, and accessibility of published research. This Copyright Transfer and License Agreement defines the rights and responsibilities of authors and the journal.

1. Author Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to JESChE, the authors confirm that:

  • The submitted manuscript is an original work created by the listed authors.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously.
  • The manuscript is not currently under consideration by another journal.
  • All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
  • All sources, data, and contributions from other works have been properly acknowledged.
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted materials included in the manuscript.

2. License to Publish

Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant the Journal of the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineering (JESChE) a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article.

This license allows the journal to:

  • Publish the article online and/or in print format.
  • Make the article publicly available through the journal website.
  • Assign and register digital identifiers such as DOI where applicable.
  • Deposit article metadata in indexing and abstracting services.
  • Archive and preserve the article through appropriate digital preservation systems.
  • Promote and disseminate the published research for academic purposes.

3. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright ownership of their published work unless otherwise specified in a separate agreement.

The journal receives the right of first publication and the right to distribute the article under the selected Creative Commons license.

4. Open Access License

JESChE publishes articles under an open access model. Unless otherwise stated, published articles are distributed under:

Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0)

This license permits users to:

  • Share and redistribute the article in any medium or format.
  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the article.
  • Use the article for any lawful purpose.

Users must provide appropriate credit to the authors, cite the original publication, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.

5. Author Rights After Publication

Authors retain the following rights:

  • To use the article for educational and research purposes.
  • To share the published article with colleagues.
  • To deposit the article in institutional or subject repositories.
  • To include the article in theses, dissertations, or academic works.
  • To reuse portions of the article with appropriate citation.

6. Responsibility for Content

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, ethical conduct, and scientific integrity of their research. Publication in JESChE does not transfer responsibility for the content of the article from the authors to the journal.

7. Conflicts of Interest and Funding Disclosure

Authors agree to disclose:

  • Any financial or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Sources of research funding and support.
  • Any relationships that could influence the interpretation of the research.

8. Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted materials, including figures, tables, images, datasets, and previously published content. Appropriate acknowledgements must be included in the manuscript.

9. Multiple Authors

For manuscripts with multiple authors, the corresponding author confirms that all authors have reviewed and approved this agreement and consent to publication under the journal's copyright and licensing terms.

10. Changes to Published Articles

The journal reserves the right to publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

11. Acceptance of Agreement

Submission of a manuscript to JESChE indicates that the authors agree to the terms of this Copyright Transfer and License Agreement. Acceptance of the manuscript for publication confirms the granting of the publication license described above.
